ONT based barcoding brings the cost savings of massive throughput with the portability and low cost setup of ONT, meaning almost all labs can now generate 100-1000s of sequences a week when it was prohibitively expensive before.
Several labs including iBOL are developing this capacity, so we now have an opportunity to develop best practices and QC guidance for all to use so that we can trust the outputs (e.g minimum coverage needed for consensus etc).
The workshop would present the options available and if time allows could even be used to train users on library preps, flowcell loading and data analysis. I've helped lead a similar event in Greece for BGE.
